JELD-WEN North America will participate in the Alliance for Wood ID Testing pilot facilitated by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) US and the World Forest ID. The group aims to combat illegal logging – which threatens biodiversity, climate stability, legitimate businesses and local communities – through scientific study.
In line with JELD-WEN’s 2050 sustainability goals, this effort supports sourcing wood for manufacturing from sustainable or certified forests and delivering through certified supply chains. “By participating in this study,” said Jason Kantola, North America leader sustainability and certifications, “we are demonstrating our commitment to sustainable forestry that protects forests and vulnerable communities.” As environmental stewards, JELD-WEN is working toward sustainable solutions that will benefit customers, our communities and the planet.

NORTH AMERICA LEADER SUSTAINABILITY AND CERTIFICATIONS
Participants in the pilot program include wood producers, processors (such as JELD-WEN) and retail companies. Their role is to send wood samples to a laboratory to evaluate potentially high-risk supply chains. The studies will support the development and use of processes, practical techniques and reference data available to companies seeking to verify the origin of the wood in their supply chains. Lessons learned and results will be shared to amplify the impact and credibility of the work.
JELD-WEN is proud to be a part of this program’s collective effort by stakeholders to ensure the legality and sustainability of wood product supply chains. Read more about our sustainability goals here.
