Investing in people and communities: Hamish White champions growth at JELD-WEN UK

From crafting doors on the factory floor to steering operations across two major UK sites, Hamish White’s 19-year career at JELD-WEN showcases growth through experience.

Hamish White began his career as a production operative at JELD-WEN's manufacturing plant in Penrith, UK in 2006. Throughout the next 19 years, he advanced through roles in continuous improvement, production management, and leadership. Today, he oversees operations at both the Penrith plant as well as JELD-WEN's Sheffield facility as UK Operations Director, driving strategic goals and manufacturing excellence.

Hamish’s career has been shaped not only by nearly two decades of experience, but by his deep local roots. “Being born and raised locally, brings a personal connection and understanding to the Penrith site and the community,” he said.

JELD-WEN's Penrith plant has long been a cornerstone of local employment, and Hamish is proud to continue that legacy. His leadership reflects a commitment to both operational excellence and regional growth.

“What makes me proud of the Penrith plant is the dedication of the team—their hard work, resilience, and commitment to delivering high-quality products every day,” said Hamish.

Under his direction, the Penrith site plays a central role in JELD-WEN’s production capabilities, particularly in manufacturing door slabs. As JELD-WEN relocates our Sheffield operations into a new, purpose-built facility at Bessemer Park, our Penrith plant will be enabled for growth, soon manufacturing all high volume doors for JELD-WEN's UK customers. With growth comes a continued investment in the local workforce; 30 new job roles were recently announced at the Penrith plant.

“This expansion not only boosts production capacity and reduces lead times, but it also creates meaningful opportunities for the local workforce. The new roles support skill development, career progression, and a stronger future for the community,” said Hamish.

Meanwhile, the new Sheffield site will serve as a key distribution hub. Both the Sheffield relocation and the Penrith expansion are part of a larger goal: strengthen operational excellence, support customer needs, and invest responsibly in sustainable growth.

With leaders like Hamish driving progress, JELD-WEN remains committed to investing in its people, customers and products.

“We are excited about the forward momentum at JELD-WEN UK. We’re investing in the future of our operations to make sure we continue to meet the high standards we set for ourselves and expected from our customers,” Hamish said.
