Manufacturing Week: The People Behind Our Success

At JELD-WEN, manufacturing is about more than just producing doors and windows. It's about the skilled people who bring dedication, expertise and teamwork to every shift. Across our plants, employees work together to solve challenges, improve processes and deliver quality products for customers around the world. In celebration of Manufacturing Week, we're highlighting team members who help drive our success.

Stephane Berthiaume

Plant Manager, Saint-Appollinaire, Canada

Q: What do you like most about working in manufacturing?

A: The main motivation for me is knowing that as a team, we can always improve and do better. We constantly remind ourselves that if we improve just 1% each day, those gains become significant over time.

Q: What does Together, We Build Better mean to you?

A: With the number of engaged people we have across JELD-WEN, there is no reason we can't be industry leaders if we remain humble, listen to our people and give them opportunities to share ideas and best practices.

Q: What makes you most proud when you walk through your plant?

A: Our Saint-Apollinaire facility has a proud history spanning more than 50 years. What makes me proud is seeing the strong culture, commitment to quality and customer-first mindset that has been passed down through generations of employees.

Jeff Ellsworth

Plant Manager, Caledonia, Michigan (Karona)

Q: What led you to join the manufacturing industry?

A: My passion for woodworking and understanding how things are made sparked my interest in manufacturing. That passion eventually led me to study Wood Science and build a career creating products from raw materials.

Joe Manert

Office Manager, Grand Rapids Interior Doors, Michigan

Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of during your career at JELD-WEN?

A: I'm most proud of our team's improvement in On Time In Full (OTIF) performance. Through teamwork and process improvements, we improved from below 50% to consistently meeting or exceeding our 97% goal for two years.

Q: What does Together, We Build Better mean to you?

A: It means understanding that no one person has all the answers. The best solutions come from bringing together people with different experiences, skills and perspectives.

Q: What is something your team does really well together?

A: We adapt. We operate more like a sports team than a group of individuals. We support each other, share responsibilities and do whatever it takes to help our customers and the business succeed.
