JELD-WEN Joins Rebuilding Together to Renovate Charlotte Veteran’s Home
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In honor of ENERGY STAR® Day on Oct. 12, JELD-WEN Holding, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of building products, has joined Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte to surprise a Charlotte veteran with a well-deserved home renovation featuring ENERGY STAR certified windows and doors.
Gary Turpin, an Army veteran and National Defense Service Medal recipient, has lived with his family in their Hidden Valley home since 2000, but a recent medical condition has made it increasingly difficult to keep up with home repairs and maintenance. To help with the significant need for interior and exterior repairs, JELD-WEN has donated new, ENERGY STAR certified windows and exterior doors, designed to make the family’s home safer and more energy efficient.
“The Turpins love the location of their home and have many wonderful memories there of raising their three children and hosting gatherings with friends and family,” said Beth Morrison, executive director at Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte. “We’re grateful that our hometown partner JELD-WEN was able to help keep the Turpin family in their home, while enabling Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte to continue its vital work of making the homes in our community healthier and more sustainable.”
The Turpins’ renovated home will include a two-panel exterior door, all new windows, and a sliding patio door from JELD-WEN, which are all ENERGY STAR-certified.
“JELD-WEN is proud to support Rebuilding Together and local families like the Turpins as we work together to repair homes and revitalize our local community,” said John Krause, SVP and general manager of JELD-WEN North America. “We are committed to creating a more sustainable future for all – and that starts with the homes we live in. Helping create more energy-efficient homes through our ENERGY STAR-certified products and other innovations is key to our long-term vision to positively impact people and our planet.”
JELD-WEN’s commitment to sustainability is put into practice every day, from optimized manufacturing practices that reduce waste to innovations that exceed energy efficiency standards and eco-friendly building products made with sustainable materials. With support from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and in recognition of ENERGY STAR Day, JELD-WEN continues to support communities in need by increasing access to energy-efficient products. The Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte project will take place Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Turpin home in Charlotte neighborhood of Hidden Valley, where JELD-WEN employees and local volunteers will help with a variety of renovation and repair projects.
