Installer Insight Drives Innovation as JELD-WEN France Launches Smartline Range

Solihull, UK – JELD-WEN France, part of JELD-WEN Europe, has launched Smartline, a new interior doors range developed in direct response to installer and customer feedback, reinforcing the company’s commitment to customer-led innovation across European construction markets.

As a leading European manufacturer of interior and exterior doors and door sets, JELD-WEN continues to invest in product development that reflects the realities of modern construction sites and evolving installer needs.

While designed specifically for the French market, Smartline reflects a broader shift across Europe towards products that address rising pressure on build quality, labour availability, and project timelines.

At the heart of the new range is an end-of-project installation door frame, known as the “fin de chantier” frame. This solution allows the frame to be installed at the final stage of construction, reducing the risk of damage during earlier phases and improving overall finishing quality. The late-stage installation approach also helps reduce rework and call-backs for installers.

The innovation was developed following structured feedback from installers and trade partners, who highlighted recurring challenges linked to early installation and site coordination.

Dom Gaffey, VP & GM UK, France and Export at JELD-WEN Europe, said, “What makes Smartline significant is not just the product itself, but the process behind it. Our teams in France worked closely with installers and customers to understand where friction exists on-site. The end-of-project frame is a direct response to those insights. It demonstrates how listening carefully to the market can lead to practical innovation.”

“Smartline challenged us to rethink how we design and deliver our interior doors range,” added Anne Renon, Marketing and Product Director, JELD-WEN France. “We focused on simplifying the offer, improving installation conditions, and ensuring every element of the range works seamlessly together. It required close coordination across teams, and the result is a solution that is both competitive and practical for the realities of the French market.”

The launch reflects a growing emphasis within the European building products sector on customer-centred development, portfolio simplification, and operational discipline. By embedding installer feedback directly into product design, JELD-WEN aims to strengthen long-term competitiveness while improving on-site outcomes for trade professionals.
